Line Haul Supervisor

Oversee freight operations, ensuring timely, efficient, and safe delivery of customer shipments. Lead and develop a team of Line Haul Drivers, collaborating with dispatch and service center managers to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor drivers, optimize operations, and achieve on‑time delivery goals to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee daily; train on safety processes as needed.
  • Monitor multiple service center lanes to ensure freight reaches service centers in time for efficient cross docking.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and teach safe driving habits; ensure employees meet service goals.
  • Directly manage, supervise, and assign tasks to drivers to ensure proper utilization and development while meeting customer expectations.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager/Assistant SC Manager, Central Dispatch, and/or Service Center Manager to align on daily/weekly/monthly and yearly objectives.
  • Provide instruction, analysis, suggestions, and ideas for operational improvement within the shift, department, and facility.
  • Provide ongoing training and feedback to employees on RPM, overspeed, and idle scores.
  • Use Od’s proprietary technology system for consistent monitoring of shipment locations and driver performance throughout the day.
  • Complete company and government forms used in freight movement, including shipping manifests, freight bills, inter‑terminal movement forms (ITM's), and exception forms.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, OSHA, and DOT compliance.
  • Conduct quarterly safety meetings.
  • Motivate drivers to exceed goals and maintain a 99% on‑time percentage.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all areas of service center operations.
  • Operate AS400, BLU system, DYMS, and other internal freight monitoring systems to track freight movement.
  • Speak with drivers, evaluate their needs, and maintain successful relationships.
  • Collaborate with dock supervisors to ensure trailers are closed and moved to their destination.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2 years of operations experience, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems.
  • Knowledge of general DOT regulations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Working Days and Shift

Days:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Shift: AM / PM. Work days and shift are estimates and may change based on business levels.
