Job Description Transportation Supervisor PurposeThe Transportation Supervisor oversees the District’s transportation program to ensure students are transported safely and efficiently. This position supervises transportation staff, manages routes and fleet operations, ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, and supports the daily operations of the Transportation Department.
Essential Functions- Supervises, trains, evaluates, and supports transportation personnel.
- Plans, coordinates, and monitors daily bus routes, field trips, and transportation services.
- Maintains route maps, schedules, transportation records, and required reports.
- Provides driver training and ensures drivers meet state and District requirements.
- Oversees fleet operations, preventative maintenance, repairs, and department inventory.
- Responds to transportation incidents, accidents, complaints, emergencies, and route concerns.
- Monitors department budgets and expenditures.
- Communicates transportation updates, delays, concerns, and service changes with staff, administration, and families.
- Ensures compliance with District policies and applicable transportation laws and regulations.
- Drives a bus route or District vehicle as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
Experience: Job-related experience in a specialized field; minimum of three years of successful administrative/managerial experience.
Required Licenses & Clearances- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Bus Driver’s Certificate
- Bus Driver Trainer Certificate
- Criminal Background/Fingerprint Clearance
- AZDOT/DPS Drug Test Clearance
- AZDOT Physical Exam
- Ability to maintain required certificates and licenses
Strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and transportation management skills. Knowledge of school transportation requirements, applicable state and federal regulations, safe driving practices, and driver training requirements.
Position Type: Full-Time
Job Requirements- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
