Choir Director - Willow Wood Junior High School - School Year Job Description
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. To support the vision and goals of the campus and district Fine Arts program, to produce outstanding performing groups, to develop individual musicianship with all students, to promote an appreciation for the best in all areas of music, and to teach the value of individual and team effort in reaching a common goal.

- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subjects/level assigned
- Demonstrate high competency in the area of instrumental music curriculum
Skills:
- Strong Choral/Vocal pedagogy background
- Keyboard proficient, capable of performing simple accompaniments
- Strong background in personal relations with students, colleagues and the community
- Highly organized, must be able to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of district and campus financial procedures
- Strong positive background dealing with parents
- Ability to collaborate with peers and colleagues on campus and across Tomball ISD
- Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) rules and procedures
- At least one year of successful choral directing experience
- Instruct 7th–8th grade choir students
- Develop individual musicianship with all students and promote an appreciation for music.
- Assist students in preparation for TMEA and UIL individual and group competition.
- Direct sectionals and before school, after school, evening, weekend events.
- Prepare choirs for concerts, contests and other events.
- Maintain quality student management and discipline in the organization and in the classroom.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory of school uniforms and choir equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage all funds and budgets of the Choral Department.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent travel required in-district and out-of-district for school functions and/or activities. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.

Salary: $61,000 Per Year
