Purpose and Scope:
Tutors students and community members in assigned discipline(s) and study skills. Primary responsibilities include providing tutoring and related services, creating a conducive learning atmosphere, and supporting student academic success.
- Deliver tutoring services to students at scheduled times and maintain weekly schedule.
- Assist students with developing study skills.
- Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions.
- Monitor and review student work, modifying strategies to accommodate learning styles.
- Encourage student responsibility for progress.
- Interact with LSC staff/faculty to obtain necessary course syllabi or materials.
- Provide feedback to staff/faculty regarding student progress.
- Engage in professional development through relevant research.
- Assist with ancillary duties such as covering the Courtesy Counter, answering phones, organizing materials, checking out resources.
- Submit required documents accurately and timely.
- Participate in departmental meetings as required.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in assigned subject matter.

- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Work is sedentary; may involve occasional walking, standing, bending, light lifting, and occasional driving. No special physical demands required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Transcripts and/or proficiency test may be required.
Hourly Pay Rate ranges from $14.42 to $28.90 and is dependent on education and CRLA certification level.
