Job Description

Purpose and Scope:
Tutors students and community members in assigned discipline(s) and study skills. Primary responsibilities include providing tutoring and related services, creating a conducive learning atmosphere, and supporting student academic success.

Essential Job Functions
  • Deliver tutoring services to students at scheduled times and maintain weekly schedule.
  • Assist students with developing study skills.
  • Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions.
  • Monitor and review student work, modifying strategies to accommodate learning styles.
  • Encourage student responsibility for progress.
  • Interact with LSC staff/faculty to obtain necessary course syllabi or materials.
  • Provide feedback to staff/faculty regarding student progress.
  • Engage in professional development through relevant research.
  • Assist with ancillary duties such as covering the Courtesy Counter, answering phones, organizing materials, checking out resources.
  • Submit required documents accurately and timely.
  • Participate in departmental meetings as required.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

Work is sedentary; may involve occasional walking, standing, bending, light lifting, and occasional driving. No special physical demands required.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Transcripts and/or proficiency test may be required.
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate ranges from $14.42 to $28.90 and is dependent on education and CRLA certification level.
