This position involves administrative and hands-on work in the performance and direction of activities to manage the Tomball Fire Rescue Support Services Division. The Support Services Division of the Fire Department is primarily responsible for Training of all members of the department and maintenance of Personal Protective equipment. The Captain of Support Services also serves as the City's Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator.

Coordinates and/or Conducts fire suppression, prevention, emergency management, and emergency medical services continuing education programs.
Administer a training record system, so that the information meets all agency and regulatory requirements and can be readily accessed.
Develop recommendations for policies to support the training program, so that the training goals are achieved.
Plan, develop and implement comprehensive training programs and curriculum.
Design programs or curriculum to support the department’s goals; knowledge and skills are job related; performance based; adult learning principles are utilized; and programs meet time and budget constraints.
Participate in local, regional, state, and national conferences and seminars on fire prevention, investigation, education, emergency medical first responder and suppression to maintain a continuing level of professional and technical competence.
Participate in the recruitment, retention, and training of the new firefighters for Tomball Fire Rescue.
Serves as the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the City.
Develops, implements, maintains, and modifies operational plans.
Prepares and presents public awareness programs to civic groups, medical facilities, schools, city employees, and other organizations as appropriate.
Assists in planning, execution and evaluation of exercises, classes, and special events.
Coordinates and participates in Emergency Operation Center activities including, but not limited to, severe weather, hurricanes, flooding, utility/power outages, emergency response to multi-alarms, Haz Mat incidents, and periods of civil unrest.
Reports to EOC or emergency scene as needed. Prepares and submits after action reports on exercises and events. Responds to inquiries and provides information within the area of assignment.
Provides and disseminates critical emerging information, regarding Emergency Management and Homeland Security issues, ensuring that the public is appropriately provided critical information in accordance with information dissemination practices and protocols.
Serves as department liaison on emergency preparedness issues with the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the State of Texas Division of Emergency Management and other local offices of Emergency Management.
Coordinates training programs and emergency operation drills to prepare all city department staff to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Assists and prepares departmental reports, budget/expenditure reports and other administrative functions of the Emergency Management division. Assists with other duties as needed.
Applies and manages grant opportunities in Emergency Management.
Assists with periodic emergency exercises to test city plan and training.
Assists with coordinating organized volunteer groups and businesses regarding emergency operations.
Develop and implement a Community Risk Reduction Program.
Manage the Department Logistics program.
Keep positive control and inventory of Firefighting PPE in a manner which meets NFPA and TCFP mandates.
Schedule advanced cleaning and inspection of Bunker Gear which meets NFPA and TCFP guidelines.
Schedule and perform fit tests for new and current fire suppression personnel annually.
Perform minor repairs on SCBA and/or schedule maintenance through a certified SCBA maintenance shop.
Use proper City and State guidelines to acquire new firefighting equipment.
Schedule firefighting equipment for annual testing and inspections. Equipment includes but not limited to:
