- Current certification as a Medication Aide in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program.

- Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Previous experience working in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for medication documentation.
- Additional certifications related to geriatric care or patient safety.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents and multidisciplinary teams.
- Continuing education in medication management or related healthcare topics.
- Administer prescribed medications to residents according to established care plans and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor residents for adverse reactions or side effects and report any concerns to nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records and documentation in compliance with facility policies.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of medication carts and supplies to ensure efficient medication delivery.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to support resident care and medication adherence.
The required skills of administering medications and understanding long-term care are applied daily to ensure residents receive the correct medications safely and on schedule.
