Job Summary and Qualifications

The Ultrasound Technologist assists the Radiologists or independently performs ordered imaging procedures specific to diagnostic imaging and related techniques, producing diagnostic images for interpretation. Ultrasound Technologists must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Ultrasound Technologists must maintain a high degree of accuracy in patient positioning and imaging technique. They must maintain knowledge of safety and radiation protection within an Imaging Department.

Ultrasound Technologists provide age specific patient care based on assessment data, current knowledge/skills, department policies/procedures and physician orders. The Ultrasound Technologist serves the following age groups on a routine basis:
Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

What you will do in this role:

  • Performs physician ordered diagnostic, and interventional US imaging procedures.
  • Confirms, clarifies and verifies the physician written or verbal order prior to implementing the imaging procedure.
  • Performs and confirms proper patient identification prior to performing the patient procedure.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available.
  • Appropriately documents findings relevant to the imaging procedures in Technologist Notes.
  • Prepares the patient for imaging procedures, providing education and instructions to obtain desired results, gaining cooperation, and minimizing the patient’s anxiety.
