Position: Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Tomball, Tx

What does the Advanced Practice Provider do?

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, the APP provides care to individuals, families, and patient groups affected by cancer or related diagnoses. Care is delivered in clinic or virtually via telemedicine. Responsibilities include prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. The APP may serve as a direct caregiver, health‑care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. The APP ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and supports the U.S. Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients.
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions; evaluate and record patient/family responses and prescribe therapies as indicated.
  • Perform procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
  • Promote wellness and recommend community resources.
  • Incorporate evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
  • Develop knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Complete patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management for patients and families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote or provide staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after‑hour calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Nurse Practitioner

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.

Level I is entry‑level and typically requires a minimum of zero to three years of experience.

Level II requires a minimum of three years of experience.

Level Senior requires six years of experience.

RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.

Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.

Current basic life support (BLS) certification required.

Physician Assistant

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Current NCCPA certification.

Level I is entry‑level and typically requires a minimum of zero to three years of experience.

Level II requires a minimum of three years of experience.

Level Senior requires six years of experience.

Current state license as a Physician Assistant in the practicing state.

Current basic life support (BLS) certification required.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.

Level I is entry‑level and typically requires a minimum of zero to three years of experience.

Level II requires a minimum of three years of experience.

Level Senior requires six years of experience.

RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.

Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Current basic life support (BLS) certification required.

Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Work Environment

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
