Job Summary and Qualifications

The registered nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of assigned patients in the Unit in order to provide quality patient care to patients in applicable age specific populations (see addendum). The RN applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Employee is responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the appropriate age populations.

According to established facility policies and procedures, the registered nurse provides and supplies professional nursing care exercising independent judgment in utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. The RN provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on assigned area.

you will do in this role
  • Collects and analyzes data in order to identify expected outcomes for the observation and medical/surgical patients
  • Develops and prioritizes the plan of care to attain measurable goals
  • Implements the interventions identified and evaluates the results, especially in relation to Critical Care patients (whichever applies).
  • Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning and documents patient/family education
  • Demonstrates critical thought and judgment in the delivery of care related to Critical care patients
  • Delivers medications based upon continual assessment, safety and evaluation of patient response
Qualifications you will need
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse with an active license in the state of Texas or a multistate license with Texas
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate Degree minimum requirement
  • 1+ years of experience working in an acute hospital Labor and Delivery unit required
