Position: Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) - Tomball, Tx

Job Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Tomball, Texas location. This position is Monday‑Friday, no weekends or holidays, and no call. The role will be Level I, II or Senior based on candidate experience.

Long‑Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)

LTIP is an incentive program that vests over a three‑year period and is tied to individual performance and operational success. Awards are discretionary and based on position, performance, and future career growth. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review and are subject to continued employment through the award payment date, governed by the LTIP document.

Role Summary

Under minimal supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care to patients adhering to national and company standards, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences among patient populations.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patient and reviewing medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from pharmacy telephone line and record information in patient chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in patient chart.
  • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate related services.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred).
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements.
  • Entry level: 0–3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience for Senior, including at least one year in oncology; oncology certification preferred.
Education & Training
  • Level I:
    Graduate from accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred); RN state license; BLS certification; maintain continuing education; 0–3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level II
    :
    Minimum three years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level Senior
    :
    Minimum five years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred; oncology certification preferred.
Working Conditions

The work environment includes potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic. Reasonable accommodations may be provided as needed.

Physical Requirements

Requiring full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination; standing and walking for extensive periods; occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs; corrected vision and hearing to normal range; reasonable accommodations available.
