Substitute nurses are assigned to campuses throughout the district on an as-needed basis.

Education/Skills/Experience

Current Texas RN or LVN license issued by The Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
Current certification in CPR
Minimum of one year of nursing experience required
School nursing experience preferred

Evidence of a current Texas RN or LVN license

Clear background check (conducted electronically at the time of application)

Receipt of three professional references (requested electronically at the time of application)

Either successful completion of TISD's fingerprinting procedure ($47 fee) or evidence of prior fingerprinting by the Texas Education Agency

Successful completion of an Orientation session with the Director of Health Services

Submission of completed New Substitute Paperwork, presentation of acceptable forms of the I-9/Employment Eligibility Form, and benefits elections
