Electrical Panel Wireman / Switchgear Assembler
Aerotek is seeking an Electrical Panel Wireman / Switchgear Assembler. This role focuses on building, wiring, and modifying electrical switch gear and related equipment that support both the oil and gas industry and an expanding data center business. You will work hands-on with panels, modular buildings, and control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electrical installations that meet project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities- Modify surplus electrical switch gear and associated components to meet project and customer requirements.
- Upgrade electrical panels and panel housings, including integration of new components and reconfiguration of existing layouts.
- Install and add AC systems and lighting within modular buildings and electrical enclosures when required.
- Install, bend, and route conduit to support wiring and control systems in accordance with drawings and codes.
- Perform controls wiring, including terminations, routing, and labeling for control panels and switch gear assemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics to plan and execute wiring and assembly tasks accurately.
- Assemble electrical panels and switch gear, using hand tools and power tools to mount devices, run conductors, and complete builds.
- Perform electrical modifications and rework on existing panels and modular buildings to accommodate design changes or upgrades.
- Conduct basic checks of wiring, connections, and assemblies to verify completeness and quality before testing or shipment.
- Work collaboratively with production and assembly teams to meet schedules and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, materials, and components are stored and handled safely.
- Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical equipment, tools, and materials.
- At least 2 years of hands-on wiring experience in an electrical assembly or panel building environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated experience performing electrical modifications on panels, switch gear, or modular buildings.
- Strong controls wiring experience, including work on control panels and switch gear controls.
- Solid understanding of electrical assembly practices, including panel wiring and switch gear assembly.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively for electrical assembly and panel building.
- Experience working with conduit, including cutting, bending, and installing conduit runs for wiring.
- Competence in blueprint reading and applying design information to real-world assemblies.
- Familiarity with production environments and meeting deadlines in a manufacturing or assembly setting.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of wiring experience across multiple industries is preferred and considered a strong differentiator.
- Experience making various electrical and structural modifications to modular buildings.
- Experience in switch gear, controls, and panel building for industrial or commercial applications.
- Experience with control panels, schematic interpretation, and detailed panel wiring layouts.
- Comfort working in a production environment where priorities can shift and multiple projects run concurrently.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in wiring, labeling, and documentation.

This is a full-time role in a production and assembly environment focused on electrical switch gear, control panels, and modular building modifications. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the possibility of working until 6:00 p.m. depending on project needs. You will work primarily on-site in a shop setting that involves hands-on use of hand tools and basic power tools, handling of electrical components, conduit installation, and panel assembly.
Team members are expected to provide their own tools suitable for electrical assembly and panel work. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and collaboration, with a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable electrical assemblies for industrial and data center applications.
