Staff Accountant

Job Description

We are a Monmouth County CPA firm looking for a reliable, experienced, and adaptable Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant.

• Work on mid-year and year-end business closings and prepare balance sheets and profit and loss statements as well as maintaining the general ledger.
• Prepare and file individual tax returns.
• Prepare and file business tax returns (S-Corporations, Schedule C's, Partnerships, Corporations).
• Monthly and quarterly sales tax filing.
• Maintain and calculate payroll information for our payroll clients as well as file quarterly payroll returns.
• Assistance with bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
• Financial statement prep and assistance with audits, reviews, and compilations.
• Prepare and submit insurance audits.

• Knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
• Proficient with accounting software, specifically Quick Books, Quick Books online, and Lacerte.
• Computer literate -- especially with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
• Willingness to learn new programs.
• Confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum three to five years of general accounting experience, specifically in individual and small business tax.

• Commensurate with experience

• Full-time. Hours will increase during tax season.
• Hybrid work option with some required in office time, especially during training period and tax season.
