HireIQ is partnering with an established engineering consultancy to appoint an experienced Project Accountant to join its Morris County office.
This opportunity is suited to someone with a strong engineering or A/E project accounting background who is comfortable managing project financials, billing, collections and reporting across a varied portfolio of engineering projects.
You’ll work closely with project managers and senior leadership, supporting projects ranging from smaller assignments through to multimillion-dollar engagements.

You will be responsible for supporting the financial management of engineering projects from setup through billing, collections and closeout.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing project accounting across a portfolio of engineering projects
- Preparing and reviewing client invoices
- Monitoring project budgets, costs and profitability
- Supporting revenue recognition and project financial reporting
- Managing accounts receivable and collections
- Reviewing project financial performance with Project Managers
- Maintaining accurate project and contract information
- Assisting with project closeout and reconciliations
- Supporting month-end reporting and wider accounting requirements
- Ensuring project financial information is accurate and up to date
- Approximately 6–15 years of accounting experience
- Previous experience within an engineering, architecture or consulting engineering environment
- Strong project accounting and billing experience
- Experience working directly with Project Managers
- Good understanding of project costs, budgets, revenue and collections
- Strong Excel and general accounting-system skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication and attention to detail
