Apparel Designer

Responsibilities

• Manages overall creative direction for all classifications (jackets, skirts, pants, knits, and sweaters) for specified brand/brands.
• Works with trend services to maintain awareness of high–level trends and curates brand/brands concepts presentations.
• Manages information in PLM.
• Develops seasonal color palettes by maintaining awareness of market color direction and internal brand color selling history.
• Researches market through trade shows and trend services, identifying specific fabrics for the season and works with sourcing team to source each fabric to meet the specific pricing needs of each brand.
• Works with technical designers to ensure tech packages are accurate and complete; reviews with Manager and provides specific feedback and collaborative direction when necessary.
• Adheres to the seasonal time and action calendars.
• Works collaboratively with internal sourcing teams, buyers and technical design to elevate calendar issues and provide resolution in order to maintain calendar dates.
• Approves fabric samples, lab dips and other development materials sent from factories.
• Maintains awareness of seasonal trends through market shopping, trend research, and stays current with competition.
• Requires international travel to gain knowledge of multi‑market product assortments.

• Bachelor’s in Fashion Design.
• 6+ years of fashion design experience.
• Strong design and conceptual skills.
• Strong color sense / print sense.
• Proficiency in PC operation, MS Office and Excel, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software.
