To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. To plan, organise and implement an appropriate instructional programme in an elementary or secondary learning environment.

• Provides quality work that engages students in learning.
• Possesses knowledge of subject matter content.
• Recognises and responds appropriately to individual differences in students.
• Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels.
• Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals.
• Plans lessons in a logical sequence.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and their relationship to other subjects.
• Reflects on teaching and devises ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis.
• Collaborates with other educators to create the most complete educational environment.
• Uses a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate student performance.
• Uses formative assessment to improve instruction.
• Assumes responsibility for all students to ensure adequate yearly progress as determined by local, state, and federal standards.
• Participates in the referral‑to‑placement process for students being referred for Child Study.
• Utilises technology in the teaching and learning process.
• Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard‑free, and conducive to learning.
• Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
• Relates to parents and community members positively and in a helpful fashion.
• Writes, speaks and presents instruction clearly, concisely, and well‑planned.
• Participates in self‑initiated and school‑and‑district‑initiated professional growth to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts.
• Adheres to policies and procedures of district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Submits required reports efficiently, promptly and accurately.
• Accepts responsibility for and inventories classroom materials, textbooks and equipment.
• Accepts responsibilities of co‑curricular and extra‑curricular duties as assigned.
• Participates in departmental, grade‑level, school‑level and district‑level committees as requested.
• Attends school‑related functions such as PTO outside the instructional day.
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Supports the Simpson County School District Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
• Hold valid Mississippi Teaching Credential and Licence.
• Appropriate endorsement and/or training for assigned courses.

The job requires speaking and listening for extended periods, sitting or standing for long periods, moving, handling objects, using hands and arms, lifting up to 20 pounds routinely and up to 30 pounds occasionally, and maintaining close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Full Time (187 days).

Salary range $44,200.00 – $76,200.00.
