Responsible for greeting and assisting patients, including check‑in and check‑out, scheduling appointments, confirming next‑day appointments, verifying insurance, collecting copayments, securing pre‑authorizations, and entering charges into the practice’s Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management System (EMR). Monitors administrative and clinical inboxes in EMR to fulfill requests for medication refills, appointments, testing follow‑up, and referrals. Provides follow‑up on unresolved patient questions to ensure continuity of care.
Reliable transportation required.
- Minimum one year front desk experience in a physician practice or outpatient ambulatory care setting.
- Computer and EMR experience.
- Knowledge of medical insurance, medical terminology, and medical office services and routines.
- Cardiovascular practice experience.
- Two to four years in a customer‑service oriented environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associates degree preferred; experience may substitute for degree.
- Certified Medical Assistant.
- Effective communication with patients, physicians, coworkers, and insurance representatives.
- Proficient with EMR systems and maintaining patient activity records.
- Ability to produce requested reports.
- Bi‑lingual Spanish/English.
- Full‑time: 80 hours per pay period.
- Minimum starting rate: $18.20 per hour. Additional factors such as experience, education, credentials, and internal equity may be considered.
