Title: Senior Human Resources Generalist

Location: Passaic County, NJ

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted HR partner, supporting employees and managers across multiple business functions. This role manages the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding, and provides guidance on employee relations, performance management, compliance, leave administration, and HR policies. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who balances employee advocacy with business objectives and can work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned business units, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Partner with managers on performance management initiatives, including coaching, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
  • Act as an initial resource for employee leave inquiries, providing guidance on applicable leave policies and coordinating with appropriate internal or external partners.
  • Administer workers' compensation claims and coordinate communication among employees, managers, and insurance providers.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation, exit interviews, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, including employment eligibility documentation and personnel files.
  • Partner with leadership and talent acquisition teams on workforce planning and hiring best practices.
  • Assist with compensation reviews, benefits administration, and annual enrollment processes.
  • Support training and development programs, including leadership development and compliance training.
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends, providing recommendations to improve employee engagement, retention, and operational effectiveness.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience. Experience supporting operational, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or similar environments is preferred.
  • Experience conducting employee relations investigations and supporting leave administration processes.
  • Professional HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
