Job Summary

The Database Administrator (SQL) is responsible for designing, supporting, and optimizing SQL database environments across managed services customers. This role ensures database performance, availability, security, and reliability in complex production environments while partnering closely with customers and internal engineering teams.

• Design, build, administer, and support SQL database environments across customer-managed platforms
• Ensure database performance, availability, reliability, and security in production environments
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve database performance and stability issues
• Perform backup and restore activities, high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR), and disaster recovery planning and execution
• Optimize existing environments and contribute to standardization through documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Participate in and lead managed services projects aligned to customer objectives
• Engage directly with customers through incident response, change requests, meetings, and status updates
• Track and document work accurately in the PSA system, including weekly timesheet submission
• Support audits, compliance efforts, and on‑call rotations as required
• Collaborate with senior engineers on complex escalations and solution design

• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (on‑premises and/or cloud‑based)
• Strong knowledge of backup and restore strategies, high‑availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR), performance tuning, and optimization
• Experience supporting large or complex database environments
• Exposure to the Azure cloud platform, SQL Server administration, and troubleshooting
• Database performance monitoring and tuning; HA/DR implementations and recovery planning
• Experience with version control tools (Git, Azure Dev Ops, or similar)
• Strong documentation and change control discipline
• Ability to communicate complex ideas and adapt style to the audience
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workloads
