An Exciting Opportunity:

Spectrum Chemical manufacturing company is seeking a dynamic Plant Manager to join their New Brunswick, New Jersey team. The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the plant operations, including production, maintenance, shipping and receiving, and quality control. Additional responsibilities include plant optimization to ensure maximum production output and quality. The Plant manager oversees all plant operations and production by working directly with and providing leadership to supervisors in all departments.

Initiatives You Will Champion:

Plant Management:
  • Leader of the plant operations team, safety practices, automated plant equipment and a strong understanding of chemical packing, shipping and storage.
  • Analyze and implements operational metrics to drive improved performance in all areas of the plant.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, yield, reliability cost, process stability / capability, and productivity.
  • Work with Engineering to manage the implementation of automation projects from concept development to launch.
  • Ensure all plant operations comply with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and train on performance standards and Standard Operating Procedures for all plant processes.
  • Establish and maintains effective relationships with the many support groups within the Corporation.
  • Responsible for the performance management of all employees.
  • Develop direct reports through teamwork, coaching and innovation.
  • Responsible for cost control and efficiency initiatives relating to the plant operations.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment, replacing or requesting adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Responsible for plant security and responding to after hours calls when necessary.
  • Work overtime and weekends to lead the team, when required.
  • Communicate with management team and other departments to keep them informed and resolve issues.
  • Promote Spectrum’s vision, mission, and values with employees, outside vendors, and customers.
  • Establish policies and procedures required to ensure plant safety and cleanliness.
  • Participate in maintenance planning and scheduling of projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and is required to influence and lead cross functional Project teams.
To be successful in this role you will need:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or University in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in plant operations management with proven results in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts/methods, as well as process optimization techniques (i.e. waste elimination, parts flow, pull, etc.) as well as Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in process driven operations; chemical down packing experience highly desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability in chemical processing disciplines.
  • Solid knowledge of cGMP, FDA and other applicable regulations.
