Role Description

The Tool and Die Machinist is a full-time, on-site role based in Morris County, NJ. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC machines to build, repair, and modify tooling, dies, fixtures, and precision components for production. Daily tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, performing precision measurements, and verifying parts against specifications.

The machinist will troubleshoot tooling issues, perform adjustments to improve accuracy and durability, and collaborate closely with engineers, quality personnel, and production teams to meet delivery and performance requirements. The role also involves following established safety procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and documenting work in accordance with company and industry standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong manual and CNC machining skills, including experience with mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions, with solid understanding of GD&T and tight-tolerance machining.
  • Experience in tool and die design, build, maintenance, and troubleshooting for production tooling, fixtures, and specialized components.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other inspection tools to verify dimensions and quality.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment, follow quality and documentation procedures, and support AS9100, NADCAP, and ISO standards.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineering, quality, and production staff.
  • Relevant vocational, technical, or apprenticeship training in machining, tool and die, or a related field; prior experience in aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing is beneficial.
