About the Opportunity

Looking for a nursing role where you can broaden your skills, work autonomously and make a meaningful impact within a close-knit community? Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital (GSMH) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. As part of the Lower Mid North Coast Sector within Hunter New England Local Health District, GSMH provides a range of acute healthcare services to the Gloucester community in a supportive and collaborative rural healthcare environment.

Our facility includes a 14-bed acute ward, a busy Emergency Department, Day Stay Unit, Operating Theatre and Community Health Centre. This diverse clinical setting offers nurses the opportunity to gain experience across a broad range of acute and emergency presentations while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team. At Gloucester, you'll enjoy the benefits of rural nursing while being supported by a team that values collaboration, professional development and high-quality patient care.

What

You Will Be Doing

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, compassionate and evidence-based care to patients within the acute ward and/or Emergency Department. Working closely with Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Assistant in Nursing staff, General Practitioners, Visiting Medical Officers and Allied Health professionals, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care to achieve positive health outcomes. This role offers excellent variety, allowing you to develop and maintain a broad clinical skillset while contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services across multiple areas of the facility.

You will also be supported by visiting Clinical Nurse Educators and senior clinicians who are committed to helping staff grow and succeed.

About you

You are a motivated and adaptable Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a dynamic healthcare environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient‑centred care. You are confident working independently while also contributing positively to a team environment. Your leadership skills enable you to provide guidance and support to junior Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing, while your excellent communication skills help you build strong relationships with patients, families and colleagues.

You bring strong organisational skills, sound clinical judgement and a commitment to working respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Experience in an Emergency Department setting is highly regarded, however nurses with a willingness to learn and develop their emergency nursing skills are encouraged to apply.
