Senior Principal Scientist

I am currently partnered with a leading Nutraceutical Contract Manufacturing company based in New Jersey.

We are searching for a Senior Formulation Scientist. In this role you will be responsible for the development of vitamin and supplement products, ensuring flavor and quality consistency while collaborating with sales and overseeing production from concept to commercialisation.

• 5 years of hands‑on experience as a Formulator in a solid, full scale, manufacturing environment, preferably in the dietary supplement or food & beverage industry.
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, Nutrition/Dietetics or related field.

• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to create customer‑specific formulations, support quoting, and present new launches.
• Research, generate and direct new product formulation from conceptualization through development and manufacture.
• Work with Operations and Production teams to troubleshoot formulation, processing, and equipment‑related issues.
• Partner with QA to develop documentation and ensure regulatory compliance, including supplement facts and labeling.
• Troubleshoot and solve challenges in tablet and capsule performance, including coating and packaging durability.
• Source new ingredients, concepts, and formats, and stay current on competitive knowledge, industry trends and technologies.
• Develop recipes and prototypes, integrating consumer insights into product innovation.
• Contribute to product and packaging configurations.
• Follow company SOPs and quality control protocols to ensure product integrity and safety.
• Effectively communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.

• Be able to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment.
• Must have strong leadership and decision‑making skills.
• Confident with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).
• Must possess strong knowledge of costing of ingredients and technology.
• Experience in product and formula development and product evaluation.
