Position: (Psychology/Social Services Background) P/T Specialist, Displaced Homemakers Program (29hrs/wk)

The Position

The Program Specialist provides direct services and operational support to the Displaced Homemakers Program (DHP), a state-funded initiative that assists individuals who have lost their primary source of income due to death, disability, separation, or divorce. The role focuses on client-centered support including assessments, individualized planning, case management, and coordination with internal and external partners to ensure participant success. This role also performs administrative tasks to ensure program efficiency and compliance.

Staff Duration:
Part Time 12 months. This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is subject to grant funding.

What You Will Do

Conduct initial intake screenings to assess client needs, strengths, and barriers in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.

Provide supportive follow-up and case management on individualized Action Plans related to educational, career, and personal goals.

Deliver direct client support services, including referrals to on-campus and community-based resources and assistance navigating those systems.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of issues such as domestic violence, economic insecurity, and other barriers to independence, offering informed, compassionate support.

Serve as a consistent point of contact for clients throughout their participation in job training or educational pathways, addressing concerns and celebrating progress.

Coordinate and/or assist with career development activities, such as resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.

Support the planning and delivery of client-focused workshops and seminars, including scheduling speakers, coordinating logistics, and preparing materials.

Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including timely data entry into the program database and supporting report preparation.

Assist in tracking project timelines and analyzing client outcomes, identifying trends, successes, and areas for improvement.

Communicate professionally with internal departments and external stakeholders, supporting service coordination and program visibility.

Prepare and proofread written materials and presentations used for client engagement, program outreach, and administrative reporting.

Support day-to-day operations, including assistance with data entry, procurement, appointment scheduling, and program correspondence.

Related projects and duties as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.

Minimum of two years of experience providing direct client services and administrative support in an environment that required strict compliance with ethical standards and client confidentiality.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build trust across diverse populations, work independently, and collaboratively within a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with databases and reporting systems.

Even Better If You Have

Experience with educational or career planning, including job search strategies and workforce re-entry.

Experience in social service, higher education, or a government setting.

Prior experience delivering workshops or presentations.

Experience working with adult or underserved populations.

Bilingual (English and Spanish).
