Annual Salary $69,342* + 1,500 w/Masters Stipend $70,842
* Salary subject to increase upon settlement of CBA PLUS Generous Benefits Package Employment - Erie 1 BOCES

Job Description:
The behavior specialist provides direct behavioral services to students enrolled in BOCES programs. The behavior specialist supports classroom teams in crisis management, assessment of student behavior and planning for proactive behavioral interventions and skill development. Duties of this job require a knowledge of child development, developmental disabilities, behavioral analysis, behavioral intervention techniques and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
General Duties:
- Support students across Erie 1 BOCES Special Education programs.
- Works with individual students on building social/emotional/behavioral skills.
- Assists in crisis management including physically intervening when a student displays behavior that are harmful to themselves or others.
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments.
- Serve on student support teams.
- Provide consultation to classroom teams.
- Provide consultation to administrators regarding student support plans.
- Train school staff on best practices for support of students in classrooms
- Assists educational teams in implementing proactive behavioral strategies to support individual students, as well as, reinforcing newly acquired skills.
- Other duties may be assigned that are relevant to the civil service job description for this title.
