Industrial Mechanic

The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for assembling, testing, servicing, and installing metallurgical processing equipment domestically and internationally. The Industrial Mechanic will assist in the assembling of the mechanical equipment using prints and schematics in an industrial shop environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Read technical instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Assembles and assists in the assembly of all utility infrastructure including chamber weldments, steel structures, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshooting as needed.
  • May assist in welding including mig, tig, and stick where qualified.
  • Rigs own lifts and/or assist in rigging lifts.
  • Performs various types of plumbing including threading pipe, soldering copper pipe, and bending hydraulic tubing.
  • Performs installation and/or trouble shooting work at customer job sites both international and domestic.
  • Works with the facilities manager and production managers to schedule down time for preventive maintenance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all machinery as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Use a variety of hand, power, and machine tools to perform assignments.
  • Other jobs as needed to benefit the manufacturing team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Operates overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes (1-20 ton) and various sizes of forklifts.

Education and Experience:

High School graduate or equivalent.

5-7 years' work experience in mechanical maintenance, assembly in manufacturing plant, millwright work, or similar

Versatile and willing to help the manufacturing team while also putting safety as a top priority.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external customers.

Exceptional organization skills with attention to detail.

Ability to be proactive and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Detail-orientated with ability to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, hear and talk.

The employee is frequently required to use hands.

The employee occasionally will be required to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.

The work environment is a manufacturing setting.

It may be required for the Industrial Mechanic to travel up to 30%.
