This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range & Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the PositionServe as an Engineering Equipment Operator responsible for the operation of various engineering equipment to perform cutting, grading, digging, compacting, excavating, and leveling earth, sand, stone, and other materials.
Duties- Operate engineering equipment to perform cutting, grading, digging, compacting, excavating, and leveling earth, sand, stone, and other materials.
- Grade surfaces to rough or fine specifications, on all types of terrain.
- Remove snow from road and parking lots.
- In an emergency operates under the direction of the department to cut new fire breaks or help fight fire in other ways such as smothering or removing a structure, etc.
- Spray herbicides from mounted spraying apparatus, a backpack apparatus or from truck-mounted apparatus to control the growth of invasive and other undesirable vegetation, next to structures and rail tracks, in channels and canals.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee is required to have his/her name on a call out list and be called back to work during non-duty hours (including weekends) to support emergency situations or make emergency repairs.
- This position comes under the Drug Abuse Testing Program and the incumbent will be tested in accordance with AR 600-85.
- Employee will occasionally be required to work with and around asbestos materials. Required to take pre-placement, annual, and termination medical examinations in accordance with CFR .
- They will be fitted with a respirator equipped for the type of asbestos being exposed to; and will receive and wear other protective clothing as required by TEAD-4 385-15.
- Employee is required to have, or obtain within 6 months after job appointment, the required state and Federal government licenses and certifications need to perform the job requirements. Commercial Driver's License is required.
- Must obtain and maintain valid State Driver's License.
- Must obtain Pest Management certification within six months, depending on availability of certification class. Must maintain certification through continuing education.
