Duties
* Supervises a mix of GS-06 and GS-07 armed guards and police officers.
* Maintains communications with mobile patrol units and posts and passes directions and information to subordinate law enforcement.
* Monitors radio transmissions for proper procedures and follows established procedures to initiate action for assistance.
* Ensures proper response to calls for law enforcement services at all levels (felony and misdemeanor), to include crimes in progress, and emergency situations to include natural and manmade disasters.
* Supervises investigations not referred to installation investigator in areas such as, but not limited to, thefts, assaults, illegal drug possession and domestic disputes.
* Uses the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and other local networks to provide information to police officers.
* Assigns, through subordinate work leaders, work to be performed by employees and reviews work on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis.
* Ensures all patrols are in compliance with organizational SOPs, policies, current law enforcement techniques and skills.
* Schedules work, distributes schedules for completion of work, distributes and balances the workload among employees.
* Provides input into the development of performance standards and prepares formal evaluation of employee performance.
* Assists other depot supervisors, managers and personnel on security problems, traffic tickets, special events, emergencies, and parking issues.
* Pursues and apprehends or directs apprehension of person(s) causing disturbances, committing a crime or engaging in a terrorist act.
* Monitors the intrusion detection systems, directing immediate responses to activated door and duress alarms locate on various buildings and CAT I / CAT II storage igloos.
* When required, implements emergency plans to protect the installation, personnel and property against bomb threats, explosive accidents/incidents, riots or demonstrations, search and rescue operations, etc.
* Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment
* This position requires a pre-employment physical.t to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* Works call back and/or emergency overtime when required.
* TDY travel is occasionally required.
* Be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment. Pass periodic medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc.).
* Pass periodic physical agility test requirements.
* Maintain a valid state driver's license.
* Successfully graduate from DA Police Academy.
* Must meet all mandatory requirements of AR 190-56.
* Required to meet proficiency requirements in specialized weapons and unarmed self-defense.
* Be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas, and radar gun.
* State certification, if required, for radar and breathalyzer operations.
* Maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
* This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. Qualifications Who May Apply:
