Diesel Mechanic Apprentices

Responsibilities

The apprentice mechanic will work side by side with a Journeyman Diesel mechanic while completing the following:

• Repairing heavy construction equipment engine and components
• Cleaning, repairing, reconditioning, and maintaining equipment and components
• Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts
• Orders replacement parts, ensuring that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
• Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
• Diagnoses and Repairs machine and engine malfunctions and failures
• Learn to read schematics (both electrical and hydraulic)
• Prepares inspection and appraisal reports
• Correctly charges work to appropriate work order segments
• Prepares accurate and complete service reports and turns in on time
• Communicates effectively with Operations Manager, and/or Shop Manager to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
• Works in a cooperative manner with other co-workers to accomplish the goals of the shop and the company
• Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems
• Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements

Here is some information you should be aware of:

• This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing of employees after hire. A conditional offer of employment may be made pending drug test results.
• Physical Requirements: Strenuous - The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas.
• Working Conditions: Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, use of chemicals etc

No Experience required. Perfect candidate, self-driven and eager to learn the trade.
