What’s the role?

The Technical Sales and Education Specialist coordinates, develops, and executes sales training in support of the North America Sales team business strategy. Typical responsibilities include ensuring consistent alignment in the development and delivery of training programs such as new‑hire orientation, sales/optical training, lab training, and customer support training.

What you’ll do
  • Facilitate and deliver high‑impact training programs using varied methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and practices to ensure maximum effectiveness for the audience.
  • Work with the Regional Manager and Business Development Representatives to assess customer training needs and establish a training plan to onboard, support and grow accounts.
  • Provide training support for New‑Hire Onboarding, National Sales Meetings, Association Conferences, Trade shows, and Customer Training Events.
  • Support new‑hire onboarding and continue rep development by conducting co‑travel assessments, providing feedback, and working with Sales leadership to enable rep success.
  • Provide ABO training in partnership with colleagues for ZEISS employees and customers as needed.
  • Contribute to training content and materials to support company objectives and initiatives.
  • Develop ROIs and metrics to assess the efficacy of training methods by measuring, benchmarking, and monitoring learning impact on the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • ABO certification required
  • Minimum three years of optical sales experience
  • Minimum three years of professional‑level training and development experience in group presentations, one‑on‑one coaching, and program management/administration
  • Prior experience as a sales representative
  • Familiarity with the Challenger Sales Methodology
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver sales training programs using instructional design, program design & development, and training technologies
  • Sales or marketing and merchandising experience to the Eye Care Professional preferred
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership for project creation, executing while using effectiveness assessments and improvement as needed
  • Trainer certifications with recognized vendors to align with company and department objectives and initiatives
  • Understanding of Rx lab operations desired
  • Excellent facilitation, management, and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem‑resolution, communication, presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Exceptional product knowledge and deep market understanding
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, effectively at all levels of the company
  • Integrity and ethical behavior in all matters with stakeholders
  • High energy, enthusiasm, engagement, and commitment to action
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including presentation and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
