Police Athletic League (PAL) Assistant Coordinator
The City of Topeka’s Police Department is seeking an organized administrative professional to join its team as its Police Athletic League (PAL) Assistant Coordinator. As a civilian member of the Police department, this position plays an important role in supporting PAL’s mission to offer affordable sports programs for local youth.
The PAL Assistant Coordinator will assist with scheduling, logistics, youth activities, and volunteer coordination. Their support ensures smooth program operation, allowing youth throughout the community opportunities to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, conflict resolution and positive self-image through team sports.
What you’ll do:- Assist in the planning, coordination, and operation of Topeka PAL programs and events
- Coordinate scheduling, facility use, and logistics
- Maintain accurate attendance, participation, and budget records
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers
- Knowledge of 501(c)(3) organizational parameters and guidelines
- A passion for community engagement
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
- High school diploma or its equivalent is required. An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, social work, youth development, education or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clerical experience is required. Experience with nonprofit or municipal program administration is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth programs, recreation, education, or community engagement is preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license and must be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka’s insurance carrier.
- Must pass an extensive background check, including a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check, KBI fingerprinting, and polygraph.
$21.60 - $24.52 per hour, depending on qualifications
