Company Description Swims & Sweeps is a multi-location pool and leisure provider specializing in the sale, installation, service, and refurbishment of in-ground and above-ground swimming pools. The company offers a full range of pool chemicals, parts, accessories, and toys to support residential and commercial customers. Swims & Sweeps is also NFI Hearth Certified, selling, installing, and servicing wood, gas, pellet, and electric fireplaces and stoves, as well as spas and barbecue grills.
With four locations across Kansas—two in Topeka, one in Lawrence, and one in Manhattan—the company provides convenient, locally focused service and long-term customer support.
Role Description The Head of Swimming Pool Construction is a full-time, on-site role based in Topeka, KS. This role leads all aspects of swimming pool construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control for in-ground and above-ground installations. Responsibilities include overseeing construction crews, coordinating with sales and service teams, managing subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with safety and building codes.
The Head of Swimming Pool Construction will review project designs, resolve technical and site-related issues, monitor progress against timelines, and communicate regularly with customers to maintain clear expectations. The role also involves optimizing construction processes, training team members, and supporting continuous improvement across all pool construction operations.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including experience supervising construction crews and coordinating cross-functional project teams.
- Project management abilities, such as planning, scheduling, budgeting, and overseeing multiple swimming pool construction projects simultaneously.
- Technical expertise in pool construction, site preparation, plumbing, electrical coordination, and familiarity with relevant building codes and safety standards.
- Customer service and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly, manage expectations, and build long-term client relationships.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with experience handling on-site challenges, vendor issues, and schedule adjustments in a practical and efficient manner.
- Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in pool installation and refurbishment.
- Previous experience in swimming pool construction or related construction fields; experience with fireplaces, spas, or outdoor living products is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions, including occasional physical tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in construction management or pool installation are a plus.
