Role DescriptionThe Working Foreman role at High Stakes Concrete is a full-time, on-site position based in Topeka, KS. This role combines hands‑on concrete and general construction work with daily supervision of crew members, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan. The Working Foreman coordinates tasks, assigns duties, and monitors progress while participating in the execution of jobs. Responsibilities include reading plans, organizing materials, inspecting work quality, enforcing safety standards, and communicating with project managers, inspectors, and clients as needed.
The role requires leading by example on the job site, maintaining a professional work environment, and supporting training and development of crew members.
- Strong supervisory skills with experience leading crews, assigning tasks, and monitoring job site performance.
- Ability to safely operate and oversee heavy equipment and concrete‑related tools.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, contractors, and supervisors. Bi‑lingual skills is a plus.
- Carpentry skills related to construction and concrete.
- Maintenance skills for basic care and troubleshooting of tools, equipment.
- Prior experience in general construction, concrete construction or a related trade, with knowledge of job site safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, measurements, and specifications.
- Ability to create basic drawings for small projects and to communicate scope of work effectively to workers.
- Reliable transportation to the shop and the ability to work in varying outdoor conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade training or certifications in construction or equipment operation are a plus.
