Library Senior Associate (Part-time Summer Position)
If you are looking for an exciting part-time summer job working with kids in the Topeka community this is the job for you! The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library is looking for a part-time Library Senior Associate working in Youth Services who is energetic, provides excellent customer service, works well with young children and their families, and is a great team member.
The Library Senior Associate provides direct service support to customers for their information, reading and technology question needs in-person and over the phone.
As the Library Senior Associate, you will:
- Deliver high quality customer service by assisting customers with library materials, digital resources, technology equipment, information needs or other services. Engage with customers in-person or over the phone. Promote the use of materials, services, and programs to customers.
- Instruct customers on how to locate, reserve, and check out materials. Instructs customers on how to locate and register for services. Troubleshoot issues related to services, materials, and technology use.
- Ensure that customers are abiding by all library policies and procedures to allow for a safe and enjoyable experience for all library visitors and staff.
- Maintain prompt arrival and efficiently and dependably maintains scheduled hours.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of customer service experience.
- Multi-lingual fluency in English and at least one other language.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong service orientation.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to find new ways to increase customer satisfaction and forge meaningful connections.
- Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy.
- Ability to work independently or in a team and adapt quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work scheduled hours, arrive promptly and maintain regular and reliable attendance.
A pre and/or post-employment drug screen, criminal history record check and physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.
ScheduleThis position is expected to last approximately from May 26th through August 1st (10 weeks). The hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (20 hours per week).
Pay & BenefitsStarting hourly rate of pay will be in the range of $16.80 to $18.69 depending on experience and qualifications. This is a non-benefited temporary position.
