Position Overview
Athletic Development at the Well-Fit Center is a youth strength and conditioning program that helps elementary and middle school participants build athletic skills, confidence, and healthy habits in a fun, supportive environment.
As a student coordinator, you will assist with planning and leading exercise sessions focused on proper strength training, speed, agility, and fundamental movement skills. You will assist in managing and facilitating sport performance testing and data analysis. You will help create a welcoming space where kids feel motivated and safe while learning lifelong wellness habits.
We are looking for an energetic, reliable KU student who has:
Job Description- 50% – Lead exercise sessions.
- 25% – Program development.
- 25% – Manage and analyze sport performance data collected.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with children.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents in a fitness, coaching, or youth development setting, as evidenced by application materials.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills, as evidenced by application materials.
- Availability to work in the Robinson Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (12 hours), as evidenced by application materials.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Excel and basic social media platforms, as evidenced by application materials.
Passion for youth development and physical activity is essential. Previous experience in coaching, fitness, athletics, or youth mentoring is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications- Students in KU's Exercise Science program.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non‑exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non‑exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
