Position Overview
Instructors serve as either part‑time or full‑time members of the faculty in the School of Business. FTE is determined by the course load. Instructors are a non‑tenure track faculty position. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered by the School of Business on the Lawrence Campus, off‑campus programs, and/or online programs.
The instructor position is covered by the collective bargaining unit represented by United Academics of KU, AFT‑AAUP, AFL‑CIO. UAKU is the exclusive bargaining representative. As the State of Kansas is a right‑to‑work state, candidates have the right to be a union member or not without fear of reprisals.
Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.
The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins.

Job Description100% Teaching
. Teach one or more courses in Business Analytics, Information or Operations. Courses may be required or electives, in undergraduate or graduate programs, and range from 1‑4 credit hours. Duties include but are not limited to: course preparation, instruction, consultations, and assignment of grades. Instructors should abide by the area's, School's and University's policies and procedures.
For undergraduate courses:
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline or closely related field.
- A demonstrated record of teaching in an academic setting or a record of mentorship, leadership or training experience in a professional setting.
For master’s level courses, meets one of the following combinations of education and professional experience:
- A terminal degree/professional degree in relevant discipline, OR a master’s degree plus seven years of relevant experience.
- A demonstrated record of teaching, training, research, scholarship or professional achievement.
- A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching courses in information systems.
- A strong record of professional experience in information systems or related field.
- Ability to design and deliver new courses successfully.
- Strong ties to the professional business community as demonstrated by employment or consulting activities.
