Essential

Functions
  • Develops and implements student-related regulations, policies, procedures, and/or processes for the purpose of providing expertise and knowledge to support staff and students with effective methods of behavior modification, providing direction, and/or complying with mandated requirements.
  • Facilitates communication between personnel, students, and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving issues, and/or resolving conflicts.
  • Facilitates meetings and/or processes for the purpose of providing instructional coaching to district staff and serving as a liaison to families, police/probation officers, and community organizations.
  • Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
  • Participates in, or facilitates, meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of materials (e.g. reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Supports teachers (e.g. assist teachers in establishing classroom management practices, train staff, demonstrate effective courses of discipline and desired outcomes, etc.) for the purpose of providing tools to enhance the learning environment and promoting students'' educational success.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills And Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; conflict resolution; grammar, spelling and punctuation;

knowledge of community resources; concepts and practices of mediation; concepts of adult learning; and, school safety and security practices.

SKILLS

are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; applying behavioral, curriculum and instructional techniques; classifying data and/or information; conducting meetings; utilizing critical observation; enforcing discipline policies;

enforcing rules and regulations; and, investigating issues.

ABILITY

is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.
