Senior Highway Designer - Roadway

Job Description

As a senior member of Olsson’s Roadway team, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and infrastructure projects that support safe, efficient, and sustainable communities.

This position is intended for an experienced roadway technician/designer who brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and project managers.

In this role, you will take ownership of roadway design and production tasks from concept through construction, contributing to projects of varying size and complexity. You will apply advanced CAD and design skills to develop roadway layouts, alignments, profiles, typical sections, and construction documents, while ensuring compliance with applicable design standards, agency requirements, and project goals.

You will work closely with engineering staff to translate design concepts into clear, accurate, and constructible plans. Responsibilities include coordinating design elements across disciplines, resolving design challenges, and proactively identifying potential issues related to constructability, phasing, and maintenance of traffic. You may also assist with quantity calculations, cost estimates, technical memoranda, and responses to agency comments.

You bring to the team:

• Associate’s degree in drafting or relevant field preferred.
• Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D on roadway or transportation projects.
