StructuralBridge Technical Manager
Benesch is seeking a Structural Bridge Technical Manager to join our team in Kanas City!
This is an opportunity for an accomplished bridge engineer to grow as a recognized technical leader without having to move away from the engineering that made them successful. At Benesch, career advancement does not have to mean becoming primarily a Project Manager; our Technical Manager path provides the opportunity to remain deeply engaged in complex bridge engineering while expanding your influence through technical leadership, mentoring, innovation, and the advancement of design practices.
You’ll help solve some of our most challenging bridge problems, develop the engineers around you, guide complex designs, ensure quality, evaluate alternatives and build expertise that can influence projects and teams across Kansas, Missouri, the West Region, and ultimately the company. The career path intentionally grows that influence from project-level technical leadership to recognition as a regional expert, and ultimately to serving as a leading technical resource and subject matter expert across multiple divisions and on a national scale.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing various structural-bridge projects, ensuring the development of high-quality engineering documents. Previous experience mentoring and directing staff on technical skills is highly desired.

, and when in the office, you will work out of any of our Kansas/Missouri offices – KCK, KCMO, Topeka, Wichita, Manhattan, or Lenexa.
- Mentor and direct the advancement of the technical skills of staff while executing projects.
- Manage technical elements of a project, including assessing what analyses need to be completed and what is the most practical approach (i.e. software, design assumptions, etc.) for that analysis.
- Perform, review, and manage technical analysis and design. Take responsibility for the completeness of design details.
- Communicate technical progress and issues to Project Manager promptly and continuously.
- Adhere to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking.
- Contribute to other project work as a technical specialist or advisor.
- Provide input into the growth of the practice.
- Work toward being a leading subject matter expert on targeted elements within the discipline.
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) required.
- PE License required.
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in structural engineering with a transportation focus.
- DOT experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of software appropriate for the discipline, showing proficiency in most programs specific to this role/discipline.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards that govern the discipline.
- Experience in Micro Station is required; experience in 3D bridge modeling is highly desirable.
- Experience with Construction Engineering services is highly desirable.
