Job Description & How to Apply Below

Location: Kansas City Metro

Company: Brown Button Estate Sales

Type: Full-Time

At Brown Button Estate Sales, our Online Estate Sale service is built on trust, clarity, and execution. Once a client chooses to move forward, the Team Lead becomes their point person—owning the project from contract walkthrough to customer pickup.

We’re hiring a Team Lead to manage individual online estate sale projects in KC. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can manage people and do the work (cataloging, photography support, logistics, and customer care) while ensuring every project meets Brown Button’s quality standards and deadlines.

This role is best suited for someone who thrives on ownership, problem‑solving, and bringing order to complex, moving parts.

What You’ll Do Project Ownership & Process Management
  • Take ownership of an online estate sale project after the sales call is completed and the client signs on
  • Conduct the contract walkthrough and serve as the client’s primary point of contact
  • Manage the full project timeline from start through customer pickup
  • Ensure supplies, equipment, and people are in place when needed
  • Track daily progress (lots per day, photography pace, catalog completion) to keep the project on schedule
  • Communicate project status, needs, and readiness milestones to the General Manager
  • Ultimately be responsible for getting the project completed—jumping in wherever needed to make that happen
Client Communication & Care
  • Maintain proactive, clear communication with clients throughout the project
  • Manage client questions, concerns, or issues in coordination with the General Manager
  • Set expectations clearly and kindly, especially during emotional life transitions
  • Represent Brown Button with empathy, professionalism, and confidence
Cataloging & Auction Standard (You Are the Backstop)
  • Ensure the finished online catalog meets Brown Button standards for:
    • What is included in the sale
    • Logical lot grouping
    • Clear titles and descriptions
    • Accurate condition notes
    • Photo quality and consistency
    • Thoughtful lot order
  • Perform cataloging work directly—especially higher‑impact or time‑sensitive areas
  • Provide backup cataloging for any portion of the sale to keep timelines intact
  • Apply an 80/20 focus: more attention to the best items, efficient handling of lower‑end lots
Photography Oversight & Support
  • Ensure photography output meets Brown Button’s standards
  • Jump in to photograph items as needed to keep momentum
  • Help stage, organize, and prepare items for photography
  • Coordinate closely with the Photographer to maintain pace and quality
Customer pickup Leadership
  • Lead customer pickup preparation and execution
  • Oversee:
    • Lot labeling and numbering
    • Wrapping and bagging of fragile or multi‑piece lots
    • Organizing lots by pickup schedule
  • Provide calm, friendly customer service during pickup windows
  • Ensure fast, accurate transfer of purchased lots
  • Confirm customers receive everything they bought before leaving
  • Coordinate refunds or issues with the Project Manager as needed
Team Leadership
  • Lead a project team that includes a Cataloger, Photographer, and Project Assistant
  • Set the tone for collaboration, pace, and professionalism
  • Move team members between tasks as needed to meet deadlines
  • Uphold company standards and core values on every project
  • Participate in reviews, feedback, and corrective actions in coordination with leadership
Sale Promotion & Advertising Coordination
  • Create or approve the sale title, cover photo, and sale description
  • Communicate standout items and unique finds to the Marketing Manager
  • Coordinate with the office on email timing and sale launch readiness
How Your Time Will Typically Break Down
  • 55% – Cataloging & Posting
  • 20% – pickup Prep & pickup Days
  • 20% – Process Management & Project Oversight
  • 5% – Client & Customer Communication
Who You Are
  • A natural owner; you feel responsible for outcomes, not just tasks
  • Comfortable leading and doing the work
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and calm under pressure
  • Confident making day‑to‑day decisions to keep projects moving
  • Strong communicator with both clients and teammates
  • Energized by variety; no two days look the same
  • Aligned with Brown Button’s core values and service mindset
