TARC is seeking an efficient and detail-oriented person to join our Finance Team. The Assistant Finance Director position is responsible for performing accounting tasks in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and within the limits of TARC policies. Position involves review of cash receipts and comparison to bank deposits and reviewing and posting sales journals. On a monthly basis, performs bank and investment reconciliations, as well as other funding reconciliations, preparing and posting journal entries and completing closing process.
It also includes monitoring accounts receivable, preparing and distributing monthly financial statements, maintaining information on allocations and depreciation schedules. The position will reconcile all asset, liability, and net assets accounts and will be responsible for preparing for the audit and working with auditors. External reporting responsibilities will include monthly sales tax return, monthly and quarterly grant reports and quarterly use tax return.
This is a full-time position.
- Master’s degree in accounting (CPA preferred) or requisite experience in business administration or accounting. Auditing experience required and payroll experience preferred.
- Five to seven years work experience at a professional/managerial level with a thorough knowledge of accounting and budgeting.
TARC, Inc. conducts background screenings and post-offer pre-employment drug testing. Must have and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

8810 Administrative Support - JOB OBJECTIVE: Perform accounting tasks in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and within the limits of TARC policies. Provide supervision and coordination of services for Finance staff.
- ADMINISTRATION
- Participate in hiring Finance team members, including screening, interviewing and recommending applicants for Finance staff positions.
- Oversee Finance processes and delegate necessary assignments to ensure efficient operation of the Division. Provide orientation and training to Finance staff. Supervise Finance Coordinator.
- Lead monthly Finance staff meetings.
- Participate on the TARC, Inc and Foundation combined Budget & Finance Committee.
- FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING
- Daily or as needed:
- Review cash receipts and compare to bank deposits.
- Run, review and post Sales Journals for TIES activities.
- Monthly:
- Reconcile bank statements and investment statements to the general ledger for TARC, Inc. and TARC Foundation.
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries and oversee monthly closing process.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable and recommend accounts for write-off/adjustment.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and distribute reports to TARC Directors.
- Reconcile Categorical Aid reports to general ledger and process payments to Greenbush for contracted employees.
- Reconcile Self-determination balances on TARC, Inc. general ledger to Self-determination program information maintained in Quick Books.
- Capital Property
- Maintain square footage, copier and phone allocations.
- Maintain depreciation schedules.
- Reconcile all asset, liability and net assets accounts at least annually and assist with annual audit.
- Perform Extraordinary Funding calculations as needed to obtain specialized funding rates for persons supported.

- EXTERNAL REPORTING
- Maintain sales tax exemption forms for TARC customers and prepare and file the monthly sales tax return.
- File the quarterly use tax report.
- Prepare monthly ECBG and UWKV grant reports and quarterly Part C, Shawnee County, State Aid and CDDO Administrative grant reports.
