Overview

Personal Financial Counselor – Topeka, KS. This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, offering a full range of financial counseling to service members and their families.

• Deliver one‑on‑one counseling and briefings to service members and families.
• Consult with commanders or other staff to address financial topics.
• Provide referral resources outside a counseling session when appropriate.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and lead personal financial management classes and workshops covering the military lifecycle.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication methods such as web‑based chat or video teleconferencing.
• Handle duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
• Communicate with leadership, participate in regular individual and group supervision, and share trend information.
• Attend in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned that align with the role’s intent.

• Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree plus 4 years of experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may substitute for the degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish may be required per contract.
• Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation and pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Minimum: $58,440 Salary Maximum: $93,500. Actual pay will be adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and other job‑related factors.
