Pay Based on experience.

HR and Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:

Human Resources

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for nursing, clinical, and support staff
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and background checks
  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, PTO, and retirement plans
  • Track licenses and certifications for nursing staff
  • Assist with employee relations matters and disciplinary documentation
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, wage regulations, and long‑term care requirements
  • Support audits and surveys (e.g., state health department inspections)
  • Maintain OSHA and workplace safety documentation

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain timekeeping systems and verify hours worked
  • Calculate overtime, shift differentials, and holiday pay
  • Ensure proper wage calculations in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management
  • Coordinate with accounting for tax filings and reporting

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Federal and state labor laws
    • FLSA regulations
    • Healthcare staffing requirements
    • HIPAA confidentiality standards
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims and unemployment claims
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory reviews
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of HR and/or payroll experience (healthcare or long-term care experience preferred)
  • Experience with payroll software and timekeeping systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a nursing home, assisted living, or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of long-term care staffing regulations
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred
