If you’re the kind of person who actually enjoys fixing what’s broken (and leaving it cleaner than you found it), this is that role.
- Pay: $40,000–$55,000+ salary (based on skill/experience) + discretionary bonus program
- 401(k): 100% match on the first 6%
- Insurance: Medical (PPO or HSA), dental, vision, life, long-term disability + supplemental options
- PTO: 10 paid holidays + 3 weeks PTO/sick time (growing to 5 weeks with tenure)
- Location: Full-time, in-office in Topeka, KS (1315 SW Arrowhead Rd.)
Magellan Financial supports hundreds of independent financial advisors nationwide. That means our internal teams can’t “wait until IT gets around to it.” When something breaks, you’re the calm first responder who gets people working again—quickly, safely, and with clean documentation.
The opportunityThis is a true Level 1 seat with real responsibility: you’ll own the front line (walk-ups + tickets), get exposure to modern tooling, and grow into deeper systems work over time. You’ll report directly to our Technical Support Analyst, who will coach you up—then hand you more as you prove you’re ready.
What you’ll do- Front-line support: Triage and resolve common end-user issues across Windows 10/11, Office/Microsoft 365 tools, printers, and basic connectivity
- Hardware + endpoint work: Build/image workstations, swap RAM/SSDs, configure peripherals, run updates/reboots/maintenance workflows, and keep asset inventory accurate
- Office buildouts: Desk setups, cable runs/labeling, mounting equipment, conference room A/V readiness, and clean “no spaghetti” installs (yes, you’ll use tools)
- Account tasks (supervised): Password resets and access requests with least-privilege discipline; upscale exceptions
- Network basics: Quick checks on DHCP/DNS/IP/subnet and “is it the network or the device?” troubleshooting before escalation
- Documentation: Turn fixes into repeatable knowledge base articles and close tickets with complete notes + user confirmation
You’re early-career, hungry, and you take pride in craft. You communicate clearly with non-technical people. You like structure, but you’re not helpless without it. Bonus points if you’ve built PCs, run a home lab, tinkered with Raspberry Pi, or taught yourself tech the hard way.
Who this is not for- If you hate talking to people (or you get short with frustrated users)
- If you won’t do hands‑on work (cables, desks, lifting, tools)
- If you “fix it” but don’t document it, and the same problem keeps coming back
- On-site in Topeka with a reliable daily commute
- Solid Windows 10/11 troubleshooting ability
- Working knowledge of basic networking concepts: DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing/subnet basics
- Comfortable with basic computer repair (RAM/SSD/peripherals) and physical setup work (lift 30+ lbs.)
- Clear written and verbal communication; professional under pressure
Submit your resume. If your background fits, we will reach out within a few business days to schedule a conversation.
