Software Quality Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented

Software Quality Engineer to join a growing Derivatives team within a leading asset management and insurance platform. The primary focus of this role is manual testing within a complex financial environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of applications related to settlements, reconciliations, and collateral management.

The hiring team is looking for a process-oriented tester who understands the core concepts of QA and can hit the ground running in an Agile environment. While the current priority is manual testing, the team is highly supportive of professional growth into automation (Playwright, API automation, AI tools) for candidates interested in expanding their technical toolkit.

• Own the manual test strategy for web applications and APIs within a fast-paced Agile team.
• Understand business logic, write structured test cases, and execute manual suites covering functional, regression, and integration scenarios.
• Validate complex financial workflows, including trade life cycles, payments, settlements, and reconciliations across middle-office applications.
• Log, reproduce, and track defects through resolution using Jira or Azure Dev Ops; participate in bug triaging.
• Partner with Product Owners and Developers to review requirements, identify acceptance criteria, and surface quality risks early in the SDLC.
• Maintain and update test repositories using tools like Xray or Zephyr.

• 3–8 years of professional software quality engineering experience.
• Required experience in the Financial Services domain (Investments, Insurance, Banking, or Fintech). Familiarity with payments or settlements is highly preferred.
• Strong experience with API Testing (Postman or similar).
• Expertise in Jira or Azure Dev Ops for defect lifecycle management.
• Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies (sprint ceremonies, requirements gathering).
• Ability to work onsite in Topeka, KS 2 days per week. (Local candidates or those within a 45-minute commute preferred).
• A self-starter capable of owning their work with minimal hand-holding.

• Experience with SQL for database validation.
• Exposure to automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium) or a desire to move into automation in the future.
• Interest in leveraging AI tools (Git Hub Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance testing efficiency.
