Managing Consultant, Data Governance; Strategic Advisory

About the job:

We are seeking a seasoned Data Governance Advisor to lead a high-priority initiative for a major financial services client. This role is not just about policy; it is about establishing a sustainable, business-led data culture. You will be responsible for maturing a formal Data Governance Council, driving the adoption of "Governance as Code", and ensuring data quality is an operational reality rather than a conceptual goal.

• Strategic Leadership:
  Act as the primary advisor to the client-s Data Governance Council, guiding executive stakeholders through the implementation of the program charter and RACI matrices.

• Framework Implementation:
  Execute and refine a multi-phase governance roadmap, transitioning the organization from tribal knowledge to a structured, automated governance model.

• Business-Side Advocacy:
  Facilitate workshops with business unit leaders to define data products, identify critical data elements (CDEs), and establish clear ownership across the enterprise.

• Data Quality & MDM:
  Oversee the development of data quality scorecards and KPIs, ensuring that Master Data Management (MDM) efforts effectively resolve duplication and improve data trust.

• AI & Agentic Governance:
  Provide thought leadership on the intersection of AI and data governance, helping the client prepare for agentic AI solutions and automated auditing processes.

• Certification: CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) at the Practitioner or Master level is highly preferred.

• Experience:
  
  10+ years in Data Governance, Data Management, or Strategic Consulting, specifically within the financial services sector.

• Governance as Code:
  Proven experience moving organizations away from "paper-based" governance toward automated enforcement and "Agentic Governance" models.

• Communication:
  Exceptional ability to translate complex data concepts into "Business English" for executive-level consumption.

• Technical Literacy:
  Familiarity with modern data stacks, metadata management tools, and the logic required for AI-driven data auditing.

• Bachelor-s or Master-s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
