Job Summary

The Cyber Security System Administrator is responsible for managing and securing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of critical systems. This role involves deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting security tools, managing IT and vendor risk, monitoring system performance, and implementing security best practices. The position works closely with other security engineers, IT teams, and business units to enforce security policies, respond to incidents, remediate vulnerabilities, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.

This position is eligible to work remotely, hybrid, or onsite in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

What you’ll do
  • Administer and maintain servers, networks, and other IT systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware components.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • Ensure system security by implementing best practices for firewalls, antivirus software, backups, and user access controls.
  • Provide technical support for users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring proper access control and security compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan and implement software and system upgrades or enhancements.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and other relevant information for team use.
  • Assist with network management, ensuring seamless connectivity across the organization.
  • Respond to system alerts and perform root cause analysis on issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage cloud‑based infrastructure and services (if applicable), ensuring integration with on‑premises systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Be accessible via mobile services (e.g., text, voice, data) during non‑working hours for upgrades, outages, and configuration changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with network and application vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and threats.
  • Ability to communicate vulnerabilities and risks across the organization.
  • Lead monthly patch management meetings and follow‑up to ensure timely patching.
  • Provide cyber security recommendations to leadership and present security metrics.
  • Work with infrastructure and application teams to remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Serve as point of contact for vulnerability‑related questions and issues.
  • Conduct security assessments on vendors to ensure their controls align with best practices.
  • Follow project management practices for implementing projects and changes.
  • Maintain technical documentation and design procedures for new technology.
  • Prepare system charts, workflow diagrams, and cost‑benefit analysis summaries.
  • Strong leadership and meeting participation skills.
  • Stay updated on technology developments and provide mentoring and training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard office software.
  • Understand essential business operations and infrastructure architecture (database, messaging, security, OS, networks, storage, business continuity).
  • Evaluate infrastructure processes and conduct gap analysis.
  • Familiar with industry architecture standards and change management/release processes.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Computer Science program from a technical trade school preferred.
  • Technical training with certification in assigned technology required as applicable.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in IT and/or application development for Infrastructure Administrator.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in IT and/or application development for System Administrator.
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience in IT and/or application development for Senior System Administrator.
  • Bonus for demonstrated experience managing assigned technology at defined service levels.
