We are looking for a Ready-Mix Concrete Dispatcher to join our Topeka team. This is a fast-paced position responsible for coordinating concrete deliveries, communicating with customers and drivers, and keeping daily operations running efficiently.
- Schedule and dispatch ready-mix concrete trucks based on customer needs and production schedules.
- Enter and verify concrete orders, ensuring all details are accurate and complete.
- Communicate with customers regarding delivery times, schedule changes, and special requirements.
- Coordinate with drivers, plant personnel, sales, and management to keep deliveries on schedule.
- Monitor orders, truck locations, demand, capacity, and delivery times.
- Determine appropriate plant locations, travel times, and delivery routes.
- Assist drivers with directions and locating job sites.
- Identify and resolve scheduling and delivery issues quickly and professionally.
- Handle customer questions and complaints with a focus on providing excellent service.
- Maintain positive working relationships with customers, drivers, and coworkers.
- Look for opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and customer service.
- Work overtime and varying hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ready-mix concrete dispatch experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in ready-mix, construction, transportation, or a related industry preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and use dispatch, order-entry, and tracking software.
- Ability to operate telephone and radio systems.
- Must be dependable and able to work overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computer, telephone, radio, and other office equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
