Safety & Health Manager

The region services the strategic business needs of teams across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. BSAM and BSEMEA are subsidiaries of Bridgestone Corporation, headquartered in Japan.

Leads and coordinates all safety and health related activities for the Wilson, NC facility. Develops and implements a comprehensive safety management system, including providing leadership and support for the line‑driven behavior based safety process. Continuously monitors safety systems for improvement opportunities, and leads and directs the Safety team.

• Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace.
• Identifying potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions.
• Investigating accidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
• Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee health and safety.
• Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies.

• Manages experienced professionals who exercise independent discretion and/or manages a functional area or process that may or may not have direct reports.
• Implements policy and strategy for short‑term results and influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
• Decision making is guided by strategic objectives of specialization.
• Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
• Must be able to communicate with executive leadership.
• Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree; 6+ years of relevant experience including 3-5 years in management or direct/indirect leadership experience.
• Or Master's degree; 4+ years of relevant experience including 2-4 years in management or direct/indirect leadership experience.
