Job Information Exemption Status:
Exempt A Brief Overview This position is responsible for the ongoing review, analysis, and management of business operations within the Surgical Division. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Administrative Director of Surgical Services and System Director of Supply Chain to ensure consistent accessibility and acceptable pricing of surgical supplies. They will be responsible for interfacing with surgeons to provide cost data by case for each surgeon to identify opportunities to mitigate cost.
They will directly or indirectly supervise Business Office personnel, Surgical Inventory Consignment & Implant Coordinators. The scope of this position includes the following operational areas:
Main campus (Topeka) surgical departments, Single Day Surgery, ExcellENT, Pain Management, and surgical clinics. They will be available to the Flint Hills campus to provide support for business functions and operational guidance as necessary.
Education Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, accounting, or healthcare related field. Required
* Master's Degree Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, accounting, or healthcare related field.
Preferred Experience Qualifications
* 2 years Healthcare leadership involving business operations. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
* Microsoft Office, performance improvement, quality management, and standards compliance (Required proficiency)
What you will do
* Determine impact of surgical case cost vs. reimbursement for all requests for new supplies and equipment. Report findings to the Administrative Director of Surgical Services and System Director of Supply Chain.
* Oversight of financial viability analysis to include making recommendations with regard to new business development through the preparation of business plans and pro formas as necessary.
* Work with the System Director of Supply Chain to gain consensus for changes in supplies/equipment that may impact patient care and apprise Administrative Directors and Directors of any issues/concerns.
* Responsible for sound fiscal management to include allocating resources, coordinating expenditures for equipment and supplies.
* Coordinates the creation of and management of department and capital budgets in collaboration with the Administrative Director and Directors of Surgical Services and Surgical Clinics.
* Directs oversight of Surgery Business functions to include daily operations and direct and indirect completion of annual performance evaluations for team members within these reporting structures.
* Directs oversight and approval surgical charge master.
* Prepares and maintains dashboards, scorecards, and other statistical reports for the Surgical Division.
* Reconciles budget reports against known usage data to determine causes of variances in surgical volumes and supply cost and reports on metrics by key service lines (ortho, neuro, general, etc).
* Coordinates timing and workflows in collaboration with Supply Chain to minimize rush orders and freight cost.
* Oversees consignment agreements and ensures terms of agreements are met regarding inventory management.
* Directs oversight of policy, procedure, and production level compliance in the areas of decontamination, packaging, and sterilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies.
* Collects, reviews, and analyses surveillance data related to productivity, quality assurance, and product loss within the Surgical Division.
* Assesses educational and training needs, and develops necessary action plans to correct deficiencies for team members within the reporting structure of this position.
* Coordinates with Surgical Division Managers and Directors to maximize efficiency and throughput specific to instrumentation needs.
